In addition to the entire range of dental services, the focus of the ‘smile designers’ is on early and long-lasting prophylaxis. In January 2009 the ‘Smile Designer Lounge SailCity’ was opened on 720 square feet on the tenth floor of the striking SailCity high-rise building with a view of the Weser river beach.

Traffic moves smoothly from the spacious reception to the open waiting area and from there to the treatment area. Harmonious colours with contrasting colour highlights and the soft language of shapes create a cosy, relaxing sense of space. Large glass doors allow the daylight to enter the rooms. Adapted to his/her wishes and interest, the guest is proposed a personalized visit and in so-doing discovers the exposed goods. Here, within a retail environment that would normally highlight merchandise, the visitor plays a privileged role in the act of its ‘unveiling’.

More than two tons of recycled wooden planks, cardboard, and used aluminum print-plates were delivered to shape the scenography of this haute-couture womens boutique. Paradoxically, the space seems weightless. The interior is conceived by the perimeter the sculptured walls follow to envelope the space. Though composed of recycled material, the final aspects of these walls have a
stunning luxurious aspect. The effect is not only visual but also tactile and puts the first-time visitor off-guard.
Like an intimate dressing, this shop shatters the normal codes of 'retail': the curiosity of the visitor is triggered by the unconventional way of exposing or deliberate non-exposing of the goods. Each designer piece is a singular story which waits to be told and is housed in its own individual closet or alcove alongside diverse ‘objets trouvés’ or art-pieces.
Along the visitor’s path, every area in the overall space, even though identical in components, differs in atmosphere through the interaction of wall-texture and ambient light. At the end of his or her route, the visitor enters the back area where, apparently, no product is exposed. Only the space enlightened by the sky domes and the video-installation reveal there is something more going on. It just has to be triggered.......more

The renovation of the formerly abandoned top-arcades in which the restaurant took its premises is respectful of the architectural heritage. Bringing on a new breeze in this ensemble, SAQ’s intervention is minimal: the particular atmosphere is created with a limited amount of elements.

The length of the space is emphasized by both the padded side-wall and the sculpture hovering over the dining tables. This 30 meter long sculpture is a creation of Arne Quinze and eruptsfrom the bar at the end of the room almost like a living and articulated organism. Floating above, the installation gives the seated customers a sense of protection and intensifies the notion of gathering.
The upholstered wall not only functions as a perfect acoustic absorbent for the ambient conversations, it houses all the essential technical elements and infrastructure: the heating and ventilation system, the electrical installations, but also the annex rooms such as the kitchen, the toilets, and the lounge. The wall is garnished with an irregular pattern of dots as if formed by the shadow of the moving sculpture.

One color prevails, the glossy copper present on the sculpture’s skin as well as on the crackled surface of the side-wall openings reacts magnificently with the incoming daylight offered by the generous large-front windows.

On summer days, the accordion windows are opened up, making the view over the Brussels ancient centre below an intrinsic component of the scenography......more

After the opening of the first shop in Weinstadt-Beutelsbach, the first Cupcake Boutique in Stuttgart opened now in June this year.

While entering the café, a key element of the store design concept becomes immediately visible.
A large glass cabinet in the middle of the room showcases the café’s principal product – a wide range of cupcakes. The adjacent sales counter also displays other available products. Its understated white design forms a further key element of the store concept.

The customer seating is aligned with the shop windows and surrounded by a continuous frame which emphasises its occupancy. The seating itself is arranged symmetrically inside the frame. There is also a long counter with bar stools for customers staying for a shorter period of time.

The Cupcakes theme is reflected in the wall graphics in the shop, as well as in little playful details, like the toilet icons.

The colour scheme of the café is based on the corporate identity colours developed for the brand, which are used here for the purpose of accentuation.
